Born in Hammersmith, London in April 1973. He grew up in France. When 8 his family moved back to UK. He has five brothers and one sister. Jamie’s parents got divorced when he was twenty years old. Bamber was educated at the St Paul’s School in Barnees, London, and received an honours degree in Modern Languages from St John’s College, Cambridge. He has also attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
It was Jamie’s mother who herself was a former actor; recognized his potential for acting and casted him as the Wicked Witch of the West in a children’s theater production of The Wizard of Oz staged at the American Cathedral in Paris. After his graduation he also got the role of Archie in the UK series Horatio Hornblower, after which there was no looking back for him.
Bamber got married to actress Kerry Norton in 2003. He has three daughters with her.
