‘Battlestar Galactica’ has been one of the most celebrated and talked about series in the recent past. There is nothing that is not known to the viewers. This series about the spaceships and Cylon’s is now about to end. The fourth season of the series, which was left incomplete due the writers strike, is now all set to be aired on January 19, 2009. This season will have ten episodes in it and that will be the end of this fabulous series.

Now, that the end of the series is quite near. There are number of questions that keep coming back to my mind. All the time, I keep thinking about what will they show in the next episodes? The questions that bother me the most are what will be the end of Caprica? Last time her fate was left undecided and I am very eager to know what will happen of her. Other things that bother me are will the lost race be able to find the Earth and reunite with the other members of their race or will they have to face their end. What do you think will happen? Will the humans be able to fight their own creation or will they be finished by them.

I know that all these questions, of mine; will only be answered once the series has started. And, I also know that these questions not only bother me but each and every fan of ‘Battlestar Galactica’. But, don’t you think that we all have really waited for long and now, at least, I am losing out on my patience. The worst thing is that as the days are getting closer, for the series to restart, it is getting all the more difficult to wait.

But, one thing is for sure, I am definitely going to miss the series after it finishes with this season. The series have been my favorite ever since it started and I have never missed a single episode. I wish we could some more of it. Don’t you think so?

An all new Battlestar Galactica event is set to go on air in 2009. It has been already confirmed by the network that 10 final episodes will be aired in 2009 and along with these final episodes, now we’ll have a special two-hour event in the upcoming year.

This special event is set to be directed by series star Edward James Olmos and to be written by the series’ executive producer Jane Espenson. It will be aired exactly after the highly anticipated conclusion of series in 2009. Some names have been disclosed by the creators and some are yet to be declared. Most probably, the star cast will include Michael Trucco, Dean Stockwell and Aaron Douglas. I hope, in the upcoming days, we’ll have some more celebrity names on the list!

Well, what’d be the story line? Rumors are predicting that the events are set before miniseries and it’d be revolving around the wake of the Cylons’ destructive forces. Just that is what I know so far. Okay, it’s not that satisfying but trust me, no more words have been uttered by any representative of the series so we’ll have to wait till they announce something about the plot-line.

Finally, 2009 is going to be a marvelous year when we’ll have 10 more episodes of series along with an extra bonus- a two hour special. DVD releases will also be made by Universal Studios Home Entertainment after the airings. Shooting of this upcoming special event is being done in Vancouver and very soon we’ll have this sci-fi TV drama with us!!!

So now here’s something which I am sure will be of interest to thousands of Galactica fans, at least I was interested in it. How about knowing what your favorite stars wore on your favorite show. What props were used by them. Here’s a few of them for you…

Remember the pilot episode. This dress was born by “Cassiopeia” (Laurette Spang) in that episode and that was the time her character as first encountered by Starbuck and the other warriors until Athena catches her and Starbuck in the launch tube. The dress is worn many more times by Laurette during other episodes of the series.

“Serena” (Jane Seymour) wore this dress in the second half of the pilot episode during the award ceremony on Carrilon and later on in the series too.

This is the famous Doctor Salik’s medical tunic which was worn by him through out the series

Props

As we all know that this is a comeback series, but a few props were used from that of the original series and The Viper helmet is one of them. Most of the helmets used in the series were repainted, however this remains intact with its original glossy paint.

This is the all famous “Commander Adama” and his “microphone” which was used by him in the opening scenes of most of the later episodes as he dictated entries to his journal. It was also used to address the fleet from the bridge.

This is the ID plate from the front of Landram two. Only one Landram was constructed for the series. Three id plate sets were used to suggest that there were more than one vehicle. During the pilot episode, plates designating Landrams two, four and seven were used

This show has been rated one of the best shows on air, and the credit goes to its twenty million viewers and fans. And that also a come-back series reaching that high happens rare. A television series must be relevant to its viewers in order to be successful. The good thing is that the show has fans of almost every age as the issues addressed in the show are close to home for many of us. The popularity of the show is such that a number of series of book adaptation, original novels have been based on the concept. Not only that video games, comics and even toys have been made on the concept such is the popularity of the show.

A few fan stories:

The one bit of huge news that was not made at Comic-Con was the identity of the final Cylon on Battlestar Galactica, which will be revealed at the end of the series’ run next year. When one person in the audience begged BSG executive producers David Eick and RonaldD. Moore to “give us a clue who the final Cylon is just a clue,” hundreds of fans in the room screamed, “No!” (Mercifully, not everyone finds the television viewing experience enhanced by spoilers.) BSG star Jamie Bamber said, “The ending is an ending. It is utterly sublime. It’s the perfect way to end the show. It does everyone and everything justice.” Since this would likely be the BSG cast’s final appearance at Comic-Con, the crowd gave them a thunderous and oddly moving standing ovation at the end of the session.

Now that it is the beginning of the end and you still don’t have any clue what the ending will be like…. Crack your brains as much but you can’t even get closer to what ending would be like and what producers have in store for its crazing going fans.

Now that the first part of the fourth season is finished, remember the last episode “ Revelations” where the Rebel Cylons hold President Roslin hostage to draw out the Final Five from the Colonial fleet, all I could say was that how could they finish the episode there making us wait for another year and cracking our brains to What next… well this one year certainly sounds like an era to me can’t say about you… as the second part of the fourth season is scheduled to air somewhere around July 2009 on universal HD.

Now is this a publicity stunt or something else… why on earth do they have to split this season into two. Keeping us the viewers in suspense. But I just hope for one thing that our wait should be worthwhile. Till then me and many more fans like me will have to keep thinking will they make it to earth… will they????

I can’t say if this is a good thing that the show will come to an end, but as for now it’s just this one thing that haunts my mind that when can I see the next season….

Battlestar galactica is famously known as BSG. Its concept was taken from science fiction films and television series which was first produced in 1978. A reimagined mini series came up in 2003 by universal television in association with sky one and the sci-fi channel. A new weekly Galactica series followed premiering on sky one in the UK and Ireland in October 2004, and on Sci-Fi in the U.S. in January 2005, and the show was a success all over.

Its genesis is about: the origin of man. As series open we find that there are about twelve separate planets which were basically ruled by humans and from the past one thousand years they have been fighting with some non human robots named cylons which were created by humans. Doesn’t it remind’s you of Satan who raged a war against the God and lost the war and was sent to hell as a punishment by the God. Destroying their own Creators. Well though we don’t know the end to this series!!!! Well till now these robots have been successful in killing the majority of civilians and only a handful are left fighting for their survival. And the order from the cylon leader is that: none of you are to survive…. the fight is still on…. Let’s see who wins…
